چکیده
The first lecture provides an introduction to the physics of color superconductivity in cold dense quark matter. The main color superconducting phases are briefly described and their properties are listed. The second lecture covers recent developments in studies of color superconducting phases in neutral and β-equilibrated matter. The properties of gapless color superconducting phases are discussed. Lectures delivered at the IARD 2004 conference, Saas Fee, Switzerland, June 12 19, 2004, and at the Helmholtz International Summer School and Workshop on Hot points in Astrophysics and Cosmology, JINR, Dubna, Russia, August 2 13, 2004. On leave from Bogolyubov Institute for Theoretical Physics, 03143, Kiev, Ukraine.

A radius of a dense star on the color superconducting phase is investigated in an extended NJL type model with two flavors of quarks. Since the model is non-renormalizable, the results depend on the regularization procedure. Here we apply the dimensional regularization and evaluate the radius of a dense star. Evaluating the TOV equation, we show the relationship between mass and radius of the d...

The purpose of these lectures is to provide an introduction to the physics issues which are being studied in the RHIC heavy ion program. These center around the production of new states of matter. The Quark Gluon Plasma is thermal matter which once existed in the big bang which may be made at RHIC. The Color Glass Condensate is a universal form of matter which controls the high energy limit of ...

In these lectures, superconductivity in impure thin films close to the absolute zero of temperature is discussed. The behavior as function of the applied magnetic field and the amount of impurities suggests the presence of a superconductor-insulator transition at zero temperature. The theory of superconductivity in the limit where all the electrons become tightly bound in pairs is used to expla...

We study thermal phase transitions of color superconductivity by the lattice simulations of the Ginzburg-Landau (GL) effective theory. The theory is equivalent to the SUf(3) × SUc(3) Higgs model coupled to SUc(3) color gauge fields. From the eigenvalues of a 3×3 gauge-invariant diquark composite, a clear distinction between the 2-flavor color superconductivity (2SC) and the color flavor locking...
